LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Elizabethtown Police Department is taking a big step forward in how it supports survivors of domestic violence and other violent crimes.
The department is putting trauma-informed care front and center of its approach with its newly remodeled victim interview room. According to the Center for Health Care Strategies , trauma-informed care shifts the focus from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”
Much of this change is driven by Anesha Knott, who’s guided over 200 survivors through some of their toughest moments as a Victim Services Specialist.
