Patriots tight ends coach/passing game coordinator Thomas Brown was named a head-coaching candidate for the upcoming offseason Wednesday on an annual list of rising coaches produced by the NFL Network.

The 39-year-old is in his first season in New England after he worked as the Bears’ offensive coordinator and interim head coach last year. He previously worked as the offensive coordinator in Carolina (2023) and as a Rams assistant from 2020-22. Brown rapidly rose up the ranks in Los Angeles under head coach Sean McVay, starting as the running backs coach, then adding an assistant head coach title in 2021 and moving to tight ends coach while he kept his assistant head coach title in 2022.
