American computer chipmaking giant NVIDIA has reported a record quarterly revenue result, with the multi-trillion-dollar behemoth behind the emergence of AI set to buoy the Australian share market.

NVIDIA on Thursday morning reported a record revenue result of $US57 billion ($A88 billion) for the third quarter ending on October 26, which marked a 62 per cent increase from the corresponding period a year earlier.

Founder and chief executive Jensen Huang said sales of Blackwell, the key graphic processing unit behind artificial intelligence, was “off the charts and cloud GPUs are sold out”.

“Compute demand keeps accelerating and compounding across training and inference — each growing exponentially. We’ve entered the virtuous cycle of AI,” he said.
