INDIANAPOLIS — The city of Indianapolis will open five emergency winter shelters next month for people who need a warm place to go.
According to the Department of Public Health and Safety, Wheeler Mission's Shelter for Men and Shelter for Women and Children, The Assessment and Intervention Center, North Tibbs and an overflow shelter for men will open Dec. 1 for people who are experiencing homelessness can find warmth.
The shelters will open as part of the city's Winter Contingency Plan.
However, Rabbi Aaron Spiegel, executive director of the Indianapolis Multi-Faith Alliance, said he's concerned about the families who will go to North Tibbs after the concerns he witnessed last year.
