The Montgomery Police Department has taken a suspect into custody in connection with the homicide of a 13-year-old girl, authorities confirmed.

On June 20 , around 2:30 a.m., MPD responded to a call about someone shot the 5000 block of Greensboro Court said Lt. Ernestina McGriff, spokeswoman for the Montgomery Police Department.

On the scene, McGriff said officers found 13-year-old Diamond Moore , who sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene.

McGriff said that a male juvenile whose exact age was not released has been charged with two counts of capital murder. He was booked into the Montgomery County Youth Detention Facility. More: Man dies after Monday night shooting, Montgomery police say
