Police have taken a suspect into custody in connection to a September homicide, police say.

At about 4 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, the Montgomery Police Department as well as Montgomery Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a structure fire in the 3100 block of Virginia Loop Road, said Lt. Ernestina McGriff, spokeswoman for the Montgomery Police Department.

McGriff said that Timeko Coleman, 50, was found on the scene with fatal injuries from blunt force trauma. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

On Nov. 19, MPD took Kurtavious Davis, 53, into custody, McGriff said. Davis was charged with capital murder in relation to the incident and booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility.

The incident was one of several, unrelated public safety incidents over the weekend of Sept. 19.
