TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A Pima County Sheriff’s Department Corrections Officer accused of assaulting an inmate in October is facing a misdemeanor charge.

The Pima County Attorney’s Office told 13 News that the case against Jason Hubert, who has been accused of abuse before, has been referred to its misdemeanor division for prosecution.

The PCAO said that if new evidence, including video, comes out that Hubert could face more serious charges.

The PCSD also confirmed that Hubert has been taken off administrative leave, but an internal investigation into his actions is ongoing.

On Friday, Oct. 10, a PCSD official confirmed that Hubert was placed on leave and under investigation for accusations of excessive force on an inmate.
