A man who fled on foot from a Baton Rouge Police officer and was shot during a tussle with that officer was arrested Wednesday.
Upon his release from the hospital, Samuel Polk, 47, was arrested on a count each of resisting an officer and aggravated assault of a peace officer for his role in the incident.
At 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Polk was parked in a vehicle in Howell Community Park on Winbourne Avenue. Because the park was closed, a BRPD officer made contact with Polk and Patsy Camper, 36, who was in the car with him.
Polk allegedly attempted to flee on foot, according to a release from BRPD.
The officer pursued Polk and an altercation ensued when the officer caught up to him. During the incident, the officer shot Polk, causing a minor wound, a spokesperson for BRPD said.
