What began as a response to pandemic-era food insecurity is now an annual tradition helping hundreds of North Texas families during the holidays.
The Center Table Fall Harvest returned Wednesday to the Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center in Dallas, distributing 800 boxes of Thanksgiving food— including turkeys, chickens, potatoes and more.
The first car in line arrived at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, nearly 14 hours before the giveaway began at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
“Because I don’t have a job,” said one man who got in line at 4 a.m.
Organizers say the need remains high, even as the pandemic has passed.
“It’s bittersweet that we can help them, but it’s also heartbreaking that they’re going through this very challenging time in their lives,” said Trina Terrell-Andrews, CEO of the Mark Cuban Heroes B
