A former Jonesboro police officer who was recorded on video punching a handcuffed man in the back of a police car last year was sentenced this week to 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to a felony and a misdemeanor charge in Craighead County Circuit Court, the Arkansas State Police said in a news release Wednesday.

Joseph Harris, 29, of Hickman, Ky., pleaded guilty to a felony count of filing a false report with a law enforcement agency and a misdemeanor count of third-degree battery, the release says.

He was sentenced to a total of 120 days of confinement, with the first 30 days to be served in the Craighead County jail and the remaining 90 days under monitored home confinement, the release says.

Harris was also sentenced to four years of probation, the release says.
