MINNEAPOLIS — On Wednesday morning, Target leaders released the company’s third-quarter earnings report.

The numbers show Target's sales overall dipped 1.5% in the third quarter compared to the same time period last year.

The company did see some improvements with online sales going up 2.4% in the third quarter, but those gains were outpaced by a 2.7% decline in comparable sales inside their stores.

The number of shoppers visiting Target stores also declined during the third quarter by 2.2% and the average transaction went down by 0.5%. These numbers suggest that in-store sales are down, fewer shoppers are visiting Target stores and overall shoppers are spending less.
