COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jurors will return Thursday morning to continue deliberating in the trial of Blendon Township police officer Connor Grubb, who is charged in the shooting death of Ta’Kiya Young. The 12-member jury deliberated for two hours Wednesday before going home for the day.

Both sides delivered closing arguments after six days of testimony from 17 witnesses.

During closings, prosecutors challenged Grubb’s claim that he was justified in firing his weapon.

Assistant prosecutor Erin Claypoole told jurors, “You can't say, 'Oh, I didn't intend to kill. I was just stopping the threat.' But by stopping the threats, you were knowingly causing serious physical harm.”

Defense attorney Mark Collins argued Grubb feared for his life and fired only after Young struck him with her car.
