OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Kapree Walton moved into his new home in June after years of living in apartments, crediting Habitat for Humanity’s homebuying assistance program for making homeownership possible.

“When this opportunity arose, I was like, I have to take it. I have to see what it’s about. I have to at least give it a chance,” Walton said.

Walton said the program reduced stress in the buying process.

“They went above and beyond to help me get over my debts and show me the way I can handle them and make sure everything’s cleared up getting me mortgage ready,” he said.

Housing affordability challenges
