CAMBRIDGE, Mass. —
Just hours after Harvard launched an investigation into possible ties between its former president, Larry Summers, and convicted child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, Summers announced he was stepping away from teaching.
In a statement on Wednesday night, a university spokesperson said, “Mr. Summers has decided it’s in the best interest of the Center for him to go on leave from his role as Director as Harvard undertakes its review.”
Summers served as the director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School.
A university spokesperson said Summers' co-teachers will complete the remaining three class sessions of the courses he's been teaching this semester.
He is not scheduled to teach next semester.
