The contrast between Michigan’s floundering, leaderless education establishment and the competency and vision of Dr. Carey Wright, the former Mississippi superintendent who led the state’s astounding turnaround on education over the past decade, couldn’t be clearer.
Last week, as Michigan’s State Board of Education was approving controversial sex ed/health ed standards during a tense board meeting presided over by an interim superintendent, Wright was in Detroit to tout a plan with Business Leaders of Michigan to fix education here.
