Major League Baseball is in mourning after the news of Randy Jones’ death.
Jones, who was the first player to win the Cy Young as a member of the San Diego Padres, died at the age of 75, the team announced in a statement shared on MLB.com.
He was 75. A cause of death was not disclosed.
“With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, the Padres mourn the passing of our beloved left-hander, Randy Jones,” the Padres said in a statement Wednesday.
“He was a giant in our lives and our franchise history.”
Months ago, former star Brett Gardner’s son died from carbon monoxide poisoning while on vacation with his family.
