Texas Tech athletics director Kirby Hocutt recently exercised an option to cease the automatic renewal in baseball coach Tim Tadlock's rolling contract, giving the deal an end point after the 2031 season.
When the two sides came to terms near the end of the 2021 season, Hocutt announced Tadlock had " agreed to a lifetime contract " with the Texas Tech baseball program. The contract was a seven-year agreement, originally signed through 2028, that automatically added another year every Sept. 1 unless either party gave written notice otherwise before Aug. 15.
Hocutt gave written notice this year on July 21 after the team missed the NCAA postseason for the second year in a row.
