CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - West Texas A&M University announced a $1.5 million donation from an anonymous donor toward the Lady Buffs softball team on Wednesday.

The donor, a regional resident, and his late wife developed close ties with the softball program over the years.

The endowment has been formally named after Alyssa Lemos Kirsch, who played for the Lady Buffs during their first national championship run in 2014.

Kirsch said she was “honored” to be recognized through the endowment.
