DELTONA, Fla. – Deputies are searching for a group of suspects after an attempted home invasion led to gunfire early Wednesday morning in a Deltona neighborhood, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say the incident happened just after 4 a.m. at a home on Wainwright Street.
A doorbell camera recorded four suspects trying to force their way inside. When they were unable to get in, deputies say the group opened fire at the house before driving away. No injuries were reported.
Neighbors described waking up to the sound of gunshots.
“It was like bang-bang-bang, like that,” one neighbor said, recalling the noise that jolted her awake.
She said that she heard shots around 4:07 a.m. and immediately worried about her family.
