Alabama veterans will soon have a new place to learn about federal, state, and private services available to them and to help them connect with other veterans.

The Alabama Veterans Resource Center is expected to open in a renovated building on Dexter Avenue in Montgomery in January.

The Legislature passed a bill in February to establish the center, which will be a public corporation run by an 11-member board.

The board met Wednesday and heard an update from Alabama Department of Workforce Secretary Greg Reed, who is secretary of the center’s board.

“The Legislature said we want there to be a single place that will house digitally all the options that are available to a veteran,” Reed said.

“And once that veteran has a profile, we’re going to let them know everything that they qualify
