Washington: The United States has approved a weapons package worth $93 million for India, paving the way for New Delhi to acquire a new batch of FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missiles and M982A1 Excalibur precision-guided artillery rounds.
The DSCA has formally notified the US Congress of both proposed Foreign Military Sales (FMS).
In its notification to Congress, the Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said the State Department had cleared India’s request to buy 100 FGM-148 Javelin rounds, one fly-to-buy missile, and 25 lightweight or Block 1 command launch units, along with trainers, simulation rounds, technical manuals, lifecycle support, inspections, spare parts, training and refurbishment services.
The estimated cost of the Javelin package is $45.7 million.
