Jimmy Kimmel Live! ‘s house band has changed its name following the death of Cleto Escobedo III .

Last week, Jimmy Kimmel ‘s bandleader and lifelong friend died on Tuesday, November 11 from cardiogenic shock at the age of 59.

Since the late-night show’s premiere in 2003, the in-house band has gone by the name “Cleto and the Cletones” and now following Cleto ‘s death, the band has a new name.

During the Monday night (November 17) episode of Kimmel , it was announced in the show’s opening that the band is now going by the name “The Cletones.”

Hours after Cleto ‘s death was announced, Jimmy broke down in tears as he emotionally paid tribute to his friend of nearly 50 years during that night’s episode of the ABC late-night show.
