LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - As a shelter for those looking to transition out of situations of domestic violence, the Friendship Home is housing 234 individuals—more than half of them children.
With so many calling their shelters home this holiday season, they’re turning to the community for help decorating the shelters.
This year, the shelter is asking for donations of new and gently used ornaments, lights, wreaths, Christmas trees and other seasonal staples, all of which will help spread the holiday spirit in their two shelter homes in Lincoln.
Staff members say that this time of year they typically see an increase in requests for services and intakes, and even just a few ornaments can go a long way.
