SUMTER, S.C. — The Sumter School District is continuing its search for a new superintendent, and this week, community members had the chance to share what qualities they want in the district’s next leader.

On Wednesday night, the district hosted a series of public forums designed to gather input from parents, educators, and community members. The conversations focused on the future of the district following the sudden resignation of the most recent superintendent at the start of the school year.

During the forums, several educators emphasized the importance of requiring the next superintendent to fully live in the Sumter community and maintain a visible presence in schools.
