SOUTH LANCASTER, Wis. (WMTV) - A 73-year-old Dickeyville man is hurt after accidentally shooting himself with a crossbow and trying to drive himself to the hospital before passing out and crashing his truck, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Around 6:11 a.m. on Monday, a homeowner called 911 to report a single vehicle crash off Wisconsin Highway 35/81 in South Lancaster, GCSO said. The caller said the truck left the highway and was in their tree line, about a quarter of a mile off the road.

The Sheriff’s Office said the driver was getting ready to hunt when his crossbow went off and the arrow struck him on the inside of his right angle.

The man got into his truck and started driving to a nearby hospital but passed out and crashed his truck into a tree.
