With the Navi Mumbai Airport set to commence operations by December 25, one thing it lacks is connectivity via a mass transit system. Maharashtra, however, has planned the broad contours of a rapid transport system in the form of a Metro.

This will provide connectivity between the two metro lines, as well as access for commuters from the Western and Eastern suburbs of Mumbai to reach the metro.

The proposed Metro Line 8, or Gold Line, will have 20 stations along its route, providing a direct, rapid transit link between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).
