LAFAYETTE, IND.(WLFI) - As Hoosier foster rates continue to rise, a local organization is acting as a light in the foster care system.
The Isaiah 117 house is a safe haven in between those foster placements for children.
When you walk in, you can see just how unique of an environment it is. It's not just a house, it feels like a home that someone lives in.
"Normally, they would wait at the DCS office, which is a safe space as well. But it's an office," said Tippecanoe County Location Leader Holly Hess.
Children are met with a cozy living room, a play area, bedrooms that are decorated. Then, they are taken upstairs to a room filled with clothes, shoes, toys, beauty products, and school supplies.
