The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested a gangster from Kolkata’s Park Street Tuesday, five months after he jumped parole. He was later produced before a city court and taken back to Delhi, said the police.
Shorab, 38, a resident of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, had been incarcerated in Tihar Jail since 2011. He was granted parole by a Delhi court on June 28 to visit his wife in Lucknow and was to return in three days, but he fled along with his wife.
According to the sources, Shorab was looking for a doctor for the treatment of his wife at an in vitro fertilisation (IVF) centre on Park Street. “A team from the Southern Range of the Special Cell camped for 15 days near Park Street to nab him as they got a tip-off about his presence in that area,” a source said.
