India is poised to have more than one-billion 5G subscriptions by the end of 2031, reaching 79 per cent subscription penetration, said report on Thursday.
The 5G adoption in India is growing rapidly and 5G subscriptions are expected to reach 394 million at the end of 2025, accounting for 32 per cent of total mobile subscriptions, telecom equipment solutions provider Ericsson said in its Mobility Report (EMR) 2025.
”The mobile data traffic per active smartphone in India stands at 36 GB per month, the highest in the world and is expected to grow to 65 GB per month by 2031 and 5G is already today serving as the critical infrastructure for driving digitalisation in the country” Nitin Bansal, Managing Ditector, Ericsson India said in the report.
