As winter approaches, the age-old debate resurfaces – should you turn off your heating if you're out for the day?

While many would argue in favour of turning it off to save on escalating heating costs, a plumbing expert has now weighed in with some advice. David Doran from Blackstone Plumbing and Heating Ltd. suggests that it's not advisable to completely switch off your heating during winter, even when you're away.

Instead, he recommends keeping the heating on at a lower temperature (15-17C) during the night or when you're out during the day. This approach not only saves energy but also prevents your home from becoming too cold.

Regular heating intervals throughout the day are also suggested to keep the pipes warm and reduce the risk of freezing.
