New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) In response to rising reports of fake summons being circulated in the name of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for cheating and extortion, the ED has implemented new measures to help citizens verify the authenticity of summons notices, the Finance Ministry’s official account announced today.
Fake ED summons closely mimic genuine notices, making it challenging for recipients to distinguish between legitimate communication and fraudulent attempts. To tackle this growing menace, the ED now issues system-generated summons embedded with a QR code and a unique passcode.
“Summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate can be verified by scanning the QR code printed on them or by visiting the official ED website,” the Ministry of Finance stated. The ED also clarified that
