Former Mayor of San Francisco, London Breed, announced Wednesday that she will not be running for Congress to replace House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco.
"After thoughtful consideration, I have decided not to pursue a run for Congress," Breed said in a statement.
Breed, who served as San Francisco's mayor from 2018 to 2025, stepped away from government in January this year after losing re-election to Daniel Lurie.
But when Pelosi announced earlier this month that she would not be seeking re-election for California's 11th Congressional District, it opened up an opportunity for other candidates to throw their hats in the ring.
