Jailed gangland boss George Marrogi has had his decades-long prison sentence extended by one month for a “quick but brutal” attack on a prison officer.
Marrogi, 36, faced the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon where he pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer on February 25 last year at the Metropolitan Remand Centre.
The head of a crime syndicate, known as the “Notorious Crime Family”, Marrogi is serving decades in prison for the murder of Kadir Ors in 2016 and running a drug importation empire from behind bars.
Part of a CCTV clip of the attack was played in court, but it stopped short of showing the assault after Marrogi complained he could not see the footage.
