Former Metropolitan Police officer David Carrick has been jailed for life after he was found guilty of molesting a 12-year-old girl and raping a former partner. Carrick, 50, who is already in prison for separate sex offences, must serve a minimum of 30 years for his latest convictions, which spanned a 35-year period.
Carrick, who previously served as an armed officer in the Met, committed sexual assault against the child in the late 1980s. Over two decades later, he repeatedly raped a woman and subjected her to "degrading and humiliating" abuse during a toxic relationship. The offences only came to light after Carrick, nicknamed 'B*****d Dave', pleaded guilty in 2022 and 2023 to 71 sexual offences, including 48 rapes against 12 women over a period of 17 years.
