HARTFORD – During a special legislative session on Wednesday, November 12, the Connecticut House of Representatives approved a $390 million dollar bond package that will allow a public-private partnership purchase of Waterbury, Bristol and Day Kimball Hospitals.
As part of the partnership, Waterbury Hospital will become part of UCONN Medical with roughly 2000 jobs retained with state-of-the-art operating rooms and patient care. The deal is slated to be approved once Governor Lamont signs the bill. The public-private partnership will end Prospect Medical’s ownership of Waterbury Hospital and represents a new chapter in the long-standing establishment.
