“I felt used, abused and unwanted.”
Faith Aponte was a self-described social butterfly, active in church and school, where she ran track and was a cheerleader. That all changed when she was sixteen and was sexually assaulted by a classmate. Faith blamed God for not protecting her.
“If you really love me, then why would you let this happen? I believed that God was not for me. Like, he was more against me.”
Faith lost interest in school and struggled with depression.
“I felt like trash. I felt less than; I felt unworthy. Just here for others to kick me around like a can on the floor.”
Desperate to take back control of her life, she came across a post on social media and thought she’d found the answer.
