SAN ANTONIO — The Guadalupe County Animal Shelter is suspending all volunteer programs until further notice following its abrupt split with a longtime Seguin-based rescue partner.
Friends of Dogs, a local animal rescue group, announced Monday it would no longer work with the county shelter. Both the organization and the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office pointed to ongoing disagreements and negative interactions as the reason for the separation.
In response, county officials say they are conducting a “thorough review” of all volunteer programs. It’s not yet clear how long the suspension will last or what changes may come from the review.
The county did not release specific details about the issues between the shelter and Friends of Dogs.
