RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ) - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced they’re temporarily lifting lane closures and highway work zones on major roads and the interstate highways across the Commonwealth this Thanksgiving travel season.
The lifting of the lane closures and highway work zones is expected to take place between noon on Wednesday, November 26 until noon on Monday, December 1.
As lane closures are temporarily lifted, VDOT warns drivers may encounter semi-permanent work zones that remain in place during this time, VDOT advises to check their page for updates and other travel advisories.
VDOT also is letting motorists know they can utilize 511.vdot.virginia.gov/ for up to date traffic alerts as well as see which roads and highways are open or on delay.
