State Minister Ashish Shelar on Thursday said that for the upcoming elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the BJP will not be in alliance in the NCP under the leadership of Nawab Malik, who is accused in a money laundering case linked to gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s gang members.
“We have been opposing Nawab Malik who faces serious charges related to money laundering and underworld links with Haseena Parker. Our opposition is not against any individual or NCP. But Malik is facing serious charges which cannot be endorsed by the BJP,” Shelar said.
A BJP sources said that the fight in BMC is against the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) which is likely to have an alliance with MNS led by Raj Thackeray.
