Rep. Shelia Cherfilus-McCormick’s (D-FL) indictment on Wednesday was met with condemnation from her Republican colleagues in the House and silence from her Democratic allies.

Cherfilus-McCormick is facing charges of theft, fraud, and conspiring to file a false federal tax return. Should the Florida representative be found guilty, she could receive a prison sentence of up to 53 years. This indictment prompted House members to act, with Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) floating a censure vote.
