As investor behaviour undergoes a structural shift in the post-COVID era, multi asset funds are fast emerging as the preferred starting point for new entrants to the markets.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18, R. Sivakumar, Head of Corporate Strategy at Axis Mutual Fund, said that the simplicity, stability and built-in diversification offered by these schemes are drawing early investors who may otherwise feel overwhelmed by choosing between equities, debt and gold.
Over the past few months, flows into the multi asset allocation category have averaged ₹5,000–6,000 crore, even as inflows into traditional equity categories — especially mid- and small-cap funds — have moderated. Sivakumar said the trend reflects a growing understanding of asset allocation among retail investors.
