Gary 'Mani' Mounfield, the renowned bassist for The Stone Roses and Primal Scream, has tragically passed away.
The 63-year-old musician first shot to fame as the bassist for The Stone Roses, joining the band in 1987 and contributing to both their iconic albums until their initial split in 1996.
Hailing from Crumpsall in Manchester, the British rock star then joined Scottish rock band Primal Scream, which was originally formed in Glasgow in 1982 by Bobby Gillespie and Jim Beattie.
He remained with them until 2011, when The Stone Roses made a comeback.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, his brother Greg announced: "IT IS WITH THE HEAVIEST OF HEARTS THAT I HAVE TO ANNOUNCE THE SAD PASSING OF MY BROTHER GARY MANI MOUNFIELD. RIP RKID.", reports the Daily Record .
