An Illinois father almost died after he fell off a ladder, and a pole went through his chest and into his neck. Though he survived the ordeal, his family said he has months of recovery ahead of him.

On Sunday, Nov. 16, first responders rushed to Carter Road in Coulterville following reports of a person who fell from a ladder and landed on a steel rod, which ended up in the victim’s neck, according to a news alert shared by Southern Illinois Fire Incidents.
