LANCASTER COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) - One person was killed and another was seriously injured after a crash east of Waverly Thursday.

Waverly Fire and Rescue was called to north 162nd Street and Bluff Road at 9:14 a.m.

Capt. John Vik with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of a southbound dump truck hit a westbound red vehicle in the intersection. The collision pushed the red vehicle through the intersection and into the ditch.

LSO suspects the dump truck’s driver violated the stop sign.

Vik said the driver of the red vehicle died at the scene. Their passenger was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. One dog in the vehicle was also taken to an animal clinic in Waverly.
