Gary “Mani” Mounfield, the classic bassist of legendary UK bands The Stone Roses and Primal Scream , has passed away at age 63. He reportedly died after collapsing following a seizure at his home.
Mani’s death was confirmed by his brother Greg, who wrote on Facebook, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce the sad passing of my brother. Gary Mani Mounfield RIP.”
The bassist was part of the Stone Roses’ classic lineup, playing on their only two albums, 1989’s legendary self-titled effort and its follow-up, 1994’s Second Coming . He joined the Manchester band in 1987, remaining with them until their breakup in 1996, and rejoining the band upon their reunion that lasted from 2011 through 2017. Related Video
