ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (WNDU) - A jury has found a man guilty of shooting and killing an off-duty Eau Claire firefighter just over a year ago.
According to the Berrien County Trial Court, 48-year-old Rigoberto Gomez was found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Chad Medlin, who was killed outside Hometown Bar in Eau Claire last November.
The jury also found Gomez guilty on seven other counts, including assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and several firearm possession charges.
Gomez is set for sentencing on Jan. 5, 2026.
