CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale is launching a new initiative to offer tuition-free college courses to high school students starting next semester. This program is designed to give students a head start on their college education.
On Nov. 19, SIU Carbondale Chancellor Austin Lane, along with leaders from 26 high schools in Southern Illinois, signed an agreement for the Saluki Start Dual Enrollment Program.
"At Southern, we are committed to expanding access to education and fostering student success, especially to high school students in our own backyard," Lane said. "It is part of what makes SIU Carbondale an Opportunity University."
