Georgia’s students are carrying some of the heaviest loan burdens in the country, according to new national survey data gathered for Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
According to the report , the state ranks second-highest in average student loan debt, with borrowers owing about $42,226 on average.
Georgia also holds the second-highest number of borrowers per 100,000 residents, reflecting how widespread student debt has become across the state.
