Logan Young, a 27-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed in a crash on Route 47 in Cape May County Sunday, Nov. 16, authorities said.
At 5:23 a.m., troopers responded to Route 47 south in Dennis Township after Young's Ford pickup truck crossed over the centerline, ran off the roadway to the left and struck a CAT TL642 construction vehicle, Christopher Postorino, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.
Young, a Sellersville resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, Postorino said.
Born in Cape May Court House, Young graduated Cape Regional High School in 2015, according to his obituary from the Evoy Funeral Home website.
"His warm laughter and radiant smile could brighten any room he entered," his obituary reads. "Standing tall, he was truly a gentle giant—known for the comforting bear hugs he gave so freely. Logan was a loving soul who deeply cherished his family."
In his free time, Young loved fishing, golfing, gaming, playing the cello, target shooting and riding motorcycles, according to his obituary.
He is survived by his parents, John and Michelle, his bother, John, his grandmother, Mary Ellen and his nieces and nephew, Aspen, Lydia and Jaxon, his obituary reads. Logan was affectionately known as "Big Uncle Logan."
A funeral will be held 1 p.m. at Evoy Funeral Home in North Cape May, his obituary reads.
A fundraiser has been established to assist his family with funeral expenses. As of Thursday, Nov. 20, almost $2,300 has been raised.
The crash remains under investigation, Postorino said.
