Gary "Mani" Mounfield, who was the bassist with the mega-influential Stone Roses and, later, Primal Scream, died at the age of 63.
"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce the sad passing of my brother Gary Mani Mounfield," wrote his broth Greg on Facebook.
The Stone Roses also posted a message on X (formerly Twitter): "RIP our wonderful brother Mani. The greatest bass player and friend we could ever have wished for." The band came out with its first self-titled album in 1989 and after they broke up, he joined Primal Scream. The Stone Roses got back together in 2011 before disbanding once again in 2017.
What was the cause of death? There's no word on that officially yet. But the tributes from bandmates and fans like Liam Gallagher (see below) have come pouring in.
Sending good thoughts to his family and loved ones.
